KMI Topics or “Cheese and  Drinks”

KMI Topics is held at the rounge corner on the 6th floor from 5:00p.m once a month.

KMI considers KMI Topics represents an important opportunity for researchers to mingle and discuss
science with those from other fields in a liberal and casual atmosphere, to come up with new ideas.
KMI administrative staff helps run the KMI Topics.

All researchers working at and visiting the KMI are required to join the KMI Topics.

“Mini Interview for Speakers “
Can I interview you?

Guest : Takeshi KOBAYASHI
Assistant Professor,  Division of Theoretical Studies,  https://sites.google.com/view/takeshikoba/home

Dr. Takeshi Kobayashi delivered a speech at KMI Topics last year, the title is “Probing BSM Physics with Cosmological Magnetic Fields.”
It was a great presentation. We interviewed him some simple questions below.

• What got you interested in this field? :
• What is the importance of your research? :
• How do you think your research will help the humans and the environment? :
• Could you give us the comments or requests for “KMI Topics”?  :

> What got you interested in this field?
My main field of research is theoretical cosmology and astroparticle physics.
I particularly like to work on the early universe, since it is a place where physics of both the large and short scales meet.
 > What is the importance of your research?
At the KMI Topics, I introduced my works on primordial magnetic fields.
I am recently excited about this topic since it provides a new way of testing physics beyond the Standard Model through astrophysical observations.
> How do you think your research will help the humans and the environment?
Knowledge about the earliest moments of our universe will hopefully help us understand better about the origin of our world and also about ourselves.
Regarding the environment… I have no idea!
> Could you give us the comments or requests for “KMI Topics”?
I understand everyone is busy, but it would be great if we can start a bit earlier.

Thank you so much for taking your time, Dr. Takeshi !
