Lattice simulation has become an indispensable tool for nonperturbative analysis of gauge theories. To carry out such numerical studies on computers of modern architecture using sophisticated algorithms, a general-purpose code set will be expected as an infrastructure. In view of this situation a new code set Bridge++ is being developed, aiming at an extensible, readable and portable workbench for lattice QCD while keeping high performance at the same time. The code set is constructed with object-oriented design implemented in C++ programming language. The latest version 1.1 was released in 2013, covering most conventionally used lattice actions and numerical algorithms. In this talk the design and features of Bridge++ will be described, and the present status of the project will be reported.
