KMI (http://www.kmi.nagoya-u.ac.jp) was created at Nagoya University in celebration of 2008 Nobel prize in physics for M. Kobayashi and T. Maskawa, alumni of Nagoya University. In commemoration of the inauguration of the new building of KMI this year, the KMI Inauguration Conference is organized to discuss perspectives of various fields, both theoretical and experimental studies of particle physics and astrophysics, which are the main targets of the KMI activity.

5. Reception

Participants will be requested to contact the reception desk at the Workshop time.
The Registration Fee 15,000 JPY

should be paid in cash at the time of the Reception.
You are recommended to come to the Reception desk during the Welcome Party to be held at Tokyu Hotel in the evening of Oct. 23.
The reception desk is also open at the Workshop site between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Oct. 24 (Mon.). For other irregular time reception please contact members of OC/LOC.

8. Information for Speakers

We would like to collect your transparency before your talk, unless you use complicated functions in the slide. Please send your talk slide by email to
by the following deadline
Speaker in the morning session : one day before your talk
Speaker in the afternoon session : the morning of the day of your talk

If the file size of your slide is more than 10MB, we cannot receive the file by an email. In the case please transfer your slide to a laptop in the conference room by the deadline using USB flash drive.

For your presentation, Macintosh (OSX 10.6) and Windows (Windows7) laptops will be available in the conference room. The preferred format is PDF, but PowerPoint and Keynote are also available.

If you need to use animations or other complicated functions, you may use your own laptop for your presentation. In that case please check the connection between your laptop and the projector by the coffee break before your session.

9. Information for Poster Presenters

A poster should be prepared with maximum size 890mm(width) x 1600mm(height). The JIS A0 [841mm x 1189mm] is the best fitted size. The conference secretariat will provide pieces of tape to fix the poster to the poster board at the conference site.

Poster boards will be made available for preparation from 8:30 on October 24th. A poster will be assigned a unique number associated with the board. The number can be found in the printed material given at the registration desk.

The poster session will be held from 18:30 18:00. Posters can be displayed by the end of the lunch time on October 26th. After that presenters are requested to remove their own posters.

10. Proceedings

The proceedings will be published through the World Scientific Publishing Co. and all participants will receive a copy of the Proceedings. The speakers are requested to submit their typescript to us
not later than February 28, 2012.

Detailed instruction for the typescript will be given to the speakers at the conference.

11. Network service

The campus-wide wireless network (NUWNET) is available at the conference site. Those who have applied for the use of network connections in the registration form will be provided an ID and password at the Registration desk.

12. General Information

Welcome Party

Participants and the accompanying persons are invited to the Welcome Party on Oct. 23 (Sun.), from 19:00 to 21:00 in Room "Shirabe" of Nagoya Tokyu Hotel. Group Dinner at Poster Session Dinner (buffet-style) will be served for free at French Restaurant Chez Jiroud (next door to the session site) before/during the poster session (18:00-20:00) on Oct. 24.

Banquet

The participants and the accompanying persons are invited to the Banquet to be held at Room "Baroque" in Nagoya Tokyu Hotel in the evening 18:30-20:30 on Oct. 25 (Tues.). Shuttle Bus will take you there after the session.

Morning Coffee/Juice

Just before starting the morning session (8:30-9:00), coffee, juice and milk will be provided with some bread/fruit, besides the coffee service at the coffee break.

Excursion

There will be a guided tour excursion (free including admission fees) in the afternoon of Oct. 26 (Wed.).

A tour bus leaves the campus at 13:30 for Inuyama Castle (National treasure, the oldest existing castle in Japan), famous tea house/garden (Urakuen) and the surrounding historic area of Inuyama (suburban Nagoya):

The capacity of the bus is maximum 45 people with priority to speakers. Those who are interested please sign up at Reception.

The bus returns to the campus before 18:30, the time when the Welcome Party of SAKATA100 starts at Sakata-Hirata Hall, Science South bldg.

Foreign Currency Exchange or Banking Service

Foreign currency exchange services will be available at the Post Office in the Nagoya University campus (see the access guide). We recommend you to exchange your currencies to Japanese Yen before you leave your country or upon arrival at international airports in Japan. Cash is still the most popular way of payment in Japan. Credit cards such as VISA, Master Card, Diners Club and American Express are widely accepted at hotels, major stores and restaurants. Traveler's checks in Japanese Yen or U.S. Dollars must be exchanged for cash at authorized banks or major hotels. Personal Checks are Not common in Japan.
