Abstract:
The United States project LIGO (Laser Interferometric Gravitational-Wave Observatory) made a direct observation of gravitational waves for the first time in human history, and has also announced second event recently. These gravitational wave sources certainly to be the larger mass black-hole of 10~30 solar mass. Beyond the success of many years of challenges in a direct measurement, these gravitational waves show the possibility of new physics studies, e.g. on the origin of such BH binaries, testing general relativity, explore the cosmology, etc.

In this seminar, we will review the basics of the gravitational wave detection experiment, LIGO and its observed event, and some topics on the gravitational wave physics and astronomy that given by these events. Also, we will introduce Japanese gravitational wave experiment KAGRA, and would like to discuss on the prospect of the future.
