T violation implies the combined charge conjugation (C) and<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;font: 12.0px Helvetica\"><i>P violation (CP violation) via the CPT theorem.<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;font: 12.0px Helvetica\"><i>Atomic EDMs are excellent probes of physics beyond the standard model , and they provide<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;font: 12.0px Helvetica\"><i>important insights into a rich variety of CP violations &#8211; leptonic, semi-leptonic, and hadronic<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;font: 12.0px Helvetica\"><i>sectors. Experimental searches are underway for the EDMs of paramagnetic (open-shell) and<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;font: 12.0px Helvetica\"><i>diamagnetic (closed-shell) atoms. The results of the experiments can be combined with those<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;font: 12.0px Helvetica\"><i>of sophisticated atomic many-body calculations to determine various CP violating coupling<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;font: 12.0px Helvetica\"><i>constants at the atomic level.
