One such<br \/>\nphenomenon is that of quantum quench, where a coupling of the field<br \/>\ntheory is time dependent and typically asymptotes to constants at early<br \/>\nand late times. In the gravity dual this can describe, under suitable<br \/>\ncircumstances, either black hole formation, or passage through a<br \/>\nspacelike region of high curvature similar to a cosmological<br \/>\nsingularity. On one hand this has taught us about the meaning of<br \/>\ncosmological singularities, while on the other hand this has thrown<br \/>\nlight on the process of thermalization in strongly coupled field<br \/>\ntheories. In particular in recent work holography has been used to study<br \/>\nsituations where quantum quench happens across a critical point, and has<br \/>\nrevealed interesting scaling properties.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","tags":[],"seminar_category":[53],"acf":{"s_now_accepting":true,"s_date_order":"2011-11-24 16:30:00","s_date_end":null,"s_date_text":"","s_text":"Prof.Sumit R.
