One of the biggest questions is what is the origin of the mergers. I will discuss the observed spin distribution that seems to support the field binary scenario as the main channel for merging black holes. I will also talk about the implications of multimessanger observations of binary neutron stars. I&#8217;ll focus particularly on the following questions: how well we understood r-process in neutron star mergers? Are neutron star mergers GRB progenitors? Can gravitational wave be a probe of QCD phase transition?
