Surprisingly, this event was accompanied with a short gamma-ray burst and following electromagnetic emissions observed by a number of telescopes around the world ranging from X-ray to radio bands. This observation was the first time GW is detected together with electromagnetic waves and opened up the new era of astrophysics. In addition, this event brought us new opportunities to study gravity theories and cosmology. In this talk, I will review this unprecedented event and its implications for non-experts.

[58
"s_poster2":"
KMI-topics-nishizawa.pptx

On recent detection of a gravitational wave from double neutron stars - KMI - Nagoya University

<meta property="og:description" content="After two years since the first detection of a gravitational wave (GW) by LIGO, a new GW event from the merger of binary neutron stars has been detected in August, 2017.
