Dark matter is a form of matter that cannot be observed through electromagnetic waves. Although its existence has been confirmed through astronomical observations, its true nature remains a mystery. Since it is highly likely to be an unknown elementary particle, uncovering the identity of dark matter is one of the major challenges spanning both astrophysics and particle physics.<\/p>\n
At KMI, we have pursued a wide range of research efforts to explore the nature of dark matter. These include theoretical studies from a cosmological perspective, observations of gamma rays generated by dark matter annihilation, detection of nuclear recoils caused by dark matter in detectors, and searches for dark matter produced in accelerator experiments.<\/p>\n
To foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among these and other dark matter research efforts worldwide, we established the Dark Matter International Research Center in April 2025. Through workshops, joint research projects, and other initiatives, we aim to deepen our understanding and move closer to revealing the true nature of dark matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":3347,"template":"","acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
