Title: BESIII Experiment
Abstract: The Beijing Electron-Positron Collider has been upgraded to a two-ring collider (BEPCII) with a design luminosity of 10^33 cm-2 s-1 at a center-of-mass energy of 3.78 GeV (the psi(3770) peak). It will operate between 2 GeV and 4.6 GeV, allowing precision studies of charmonia production and decays (J/psi, psi(2S), psi(3770), chi_cJ, h_c, and so on), charm physics (D and Ds decays), and improved determinations of the tau mass and the hadronic cross section (R value) in this energy region. During 2009, BESIII accumulated samples of 106 M psi(2S) events and 225 M J/psi events, and in 2009-2011 running years, BESIII obtained about 3 fb-1 psi(3770) data including approximately 75pb-1 of scan data around the psi(3770) peak; BESIII is taking psi(4040) data now for the study of the XYZ particles which were observed at Belle and BaBar in the last few years. In this presentation some recently published and preliminary results based on 225M J/psi events and 106M psi(2S) events will be shown. These results include h_c production and parameters measurements, observations of new resonances and the confirmation of X(1835) in eta' pi+pi- mass spectrum, and other J/psi and psi(2S) radiative and hadronic decays. An outline of the prospects for upcoming measurements and searches will also be presented.
